Ran her till the wheels fell off… again. You may remember this past April that one of the wheels came-off of our dear Sig One. Well, it happened again.
On the trip home to Southern California from Seattle, WA, our last trip of 2024, the rear passenger side wheel melted and fell apart with 250 miles left on the 1,200 mile journey. Of course it was 8:30PM, pitch black outside, 30 degrees, chilled wind blowing. Sig One is on the side of the road, so it was too dangerous to stay inside the vehicle. We had to stand out in a dry grass field somewhere in Central California while we waited for a tow truck to arrive.
The wait could have been worse. Luckily a driver came to save us 35 minutes later. We hookup and go. Turns out 150 miles is the farthest the driver was allowed to take us. Get dropped off in Bakersfield in the middle of the night.
The information comes that a driver should be there in 45 minutes. That sounds great, not that bad at all. The time frame continues to update as each hour goes bye until 7-½ hours go bye. A driver shows up. I don’t think anyone remembers what time it was when we were dropped off by the tow driver. Anyways, we survived, and got home safely.
